Step One Weatherization improves the economic welfare of the community at large while affording an opportunity for home improvement through energy efficiency for those that otherwise could not afford it. Our home energy program offers weatherization improvements that are inexpensive, easy to do and done in a few hours. These simple tasks can make a significant difference in home energy costs. We are looking for members who want to earn hours helping us perform these tasks on other member homes and for members who want to spend hours receiving these improvements on their own homes. Our goal is to provide this service for every member's home in Hour Exchange Portland. Members would be going to homes in a crew of three and every crew will have a leader to help explain how to do each of the tasks - so no experience is necessary! Depending on what materials we use (every house is different) the cost usually does not exceed $80 per home. Members who receive weatherization will be responsible to pay for these materials.
